In this tutorial, you’ll learn how easy it is to create a bamboo arbor gate for your garden. It would certainly be perfect for some flowering vines or even roses.

Here’s how to make one:

Step 1. Gather the materials you’ll need. Cut the bamboo poles to the same size, depending on the height you want the gate to be. Just make sure it’s taller than you are, so you can easily pass through.

Step 2. You’ll need at least four whole poles and four split ones (or you can opt to keep these whole, too).

If you opt for split poles, only split the bamboo after you’re done cutting it to the same length as the others. Clean out the sharp edges.

Step 3. Connect the split bamboo to the whole poles which act as your posts for your arbor gate. Make sure to drill a guide hole into the bamboo or else the entire pole could split!

Repeat this step with the other poles, creating an angle above the poles.

Step 4. Dig holes into the ground and put the poles in. Or if you have cement available, it’s best to put concrete posts at the foundation, then simply tie the bamboo poles to the steel bars from your concrete post.

Step 5. Once the posts are set up, you can continue splitting more bamboos to put as support across the poles. Again, make sure to drill guide holes.

Step 6. Your arbor gate is done! For best results, put ropes around the connected parts to make them stronger. This could also help prolong the life of your bamboo gate.
