Here, we show you how you can easily repair a wobbly chair or table.

You Will Need:

  • Damp cloth
  • Wood glue
  • Small brush
  • Screwdriver
  • Wood clamps

Step 1: Examine

Examine the chair or table for the cause of the wobbly leg. Most of the time, the reason is the joints between the legs and the rungs are broken or loose. Sometimes, it’s not just one leg but also several.

The fastest and easiest way to figure out which parts aren’t working right is to keep the chair steady and grab each leg. Try to move each leg to the side.

Step 2: Disassemble

To fix a wobbly leg, you might need to disassemble it so you can secure it back entirely.

Most of the time, screws or bolts are used to keep table legs in place. If your table legs are screwed in, make sure you have the right type of screwdriver to loosen them up.

Step 3: Glue

Go over the old glue bond and remove as much as you can. Once you’ve disassembled or pulled apart the chair’s loose joints, apply wood glue into the hole, then replace the piece.

Using a brush, go around the joint, applying wood glue to secure it. If you have wood clamps, the better. You can tighten the joints using a clamp while gluing everything together.

You can use a damp cloth to wipe any excess glue to keep your chair looking clean.

Don’t forget to return the screws you removed to secure it and make the legs steady again.  Tighten the screws as much as possible with the screwdriver you have.

Step 4: Check

Once you’ve replaced the screws and dried the glue, your chair should be working steadily now.

However, it’s still best to check it by putting it back and giving it a little nudge to see if it’s still wobbly.

And there you have it! Fixing a wobbly chair or table is simple if you have the right tools and know how to do it. If you followed the steps above, fixing it would be quick and easy!
